Tim and Ruffa sat at the little table in the rear of the tavern.
"I ever tell you about the time I was fighting a whole tribe of Imps by
myself?" asked Ruffa.
Jim smiled. "No, you haven't told me that one yet. Speak on, I enjoy your
tales."
Ruffa took another swig of ale and set it down.
"Okay. There I was, out on patrol with my squad. We had been looking for a
tribe of imps that had been terrorizing this one village. We were following
this path and it came to a clearing and the trail seemed to split up. So the
sergeant split us into twos and had each of us follow a separate path.
"Jenki and myself followed our path and we soon started coming into this
mountain range. The trail we were following seemed like it was used quite a
bit. As we walked along, I thought I heard a noise ahead. So we stopped and
started climbing this small cliff and worked our way along this small path
to an over look that showed this large space. In it, was the entire imp
tribe.
"So, we moved back, and I told Jenki to go back and get the rest of the
squad. He ran back and I went back to the ledge to spy on the imps. Well
after a few moments, they spotted me and came running after. Some threw
stones and a few threw darts, but they missed me as I quickly worked my way
back. But, they were following me below in this little canyon. At one point,
I noticed that there was a giant boulder right above me. So I drew my sword
and struck at the stones that seemed to be holding it in place, and after
two hits, two hits, the huge boulder came tumbling down.
"Oh, what a sight. The boulder came tumbling down fast, and I had to hurry
to get out of it's way. And not only the boulder, but a score of other rocks
came after it. And this large group of imps that were below me were crushed
in the avalanche. What a sight!
"But that only killed and injured half of them. The other half were still
alive and they began climbing up the fallen rock to get at me now. Since I
still had my sword drawn, I went to the spot where the avalanche was and
began swinging and cutting down those little fiends. Aye, what a struggle.
They came at me in a rush, all at once, but I swung my sword with such force
that I took out five of them at once. And as I swung my sword back, I took
out another three.
"I stood my ground and kept swinging at the little buggers as they came at
me. I had the advantage and they were too dim to see that. I damn near
killed the whole tribe of them on that little slope of rock before my squad
came to my assistance. Once there, it was a simple matter of wiping out the
rest."
Tim grinned wide. "A wonderful tale, Ruffa. You sound about as good as
Bacca."
"HA!" exclaimed Ruffa. "I am nowhere near as great as Bacca. Why, what I
did with those imps, Bacca would have done with giants."
"Really? I have only heard bits and pieces of tales about Bacca. What do
you know, Ruffa?"
"Well, I know my fair share, I'll say that. But Bacca... he was almost a
god among men, you could say.
"He was known as The High Lord of All That Kicks Ass, a very high and
respected order of warriors from an unknown land, reknowned for their
bravery and skill in battle.
"Bacca, I now believe, came from this land to the north of the desert of
Figaro, far to the west of Narshe. It's a strange land there and hard to
travel through.
"But anyways, Bacca, you see," Ruffa took a long swig of his ale, "he once
fought one thousand moogles, single-handedly."
"Now," said Tim. "I heard differently. I have heard about that battle. He
was not alone, his wife, the Lady Paladin, was with him, and she was a
strong wizard and a warrior. Also, Bacca used a bit of magic to help him. He
used a flute that summoned a very strong wind, then used a magic called a
'Super Ball.' That kept the moogles busy while he slowly took them out one
by one. And I'm sure that he had some dragons to help him as well."
"Well, that could have been the case," said Ruffa. "But he still took them
on those moogles at a disadvantage and was not afriad."
"Aye, that does seem to be the case about Bacca, all heart and little
brains."
Ruffa chuckled. "Well, he certainly would not back down from a fight. I
recall that he found an ancient elven fort and camped his army inside. The
moogles came and were slaughtered at it's walls for seven days straight
before the human army had to flee.
"Aye, he was a great man."
"I wonder if such a man will ever exist again," said Tim. He took a drink.
"Maybe, maybe," said Ruffa. "Times seem to be growing tense. Another great
war could be at hand."
"Which means business for me," said Tim.
"Which means pain for many people," said Ruffa.
"There is that," said Tim with a frown.

Perhaps for the Ale, perhaps by the tales, the two warriors failed to
notice
the steely gaze they were recieving from a cloaked man across the tavern.

But was it a man? Perhaps else, but regardless, it had heard every word.

It simply stated one word as it rose from it's chair.

"Bacca..."

Four coins appeared upon the table as it strode out. Tim looked up at the
cloaked one. He almost thought he saw something black and scaled hanging
from underneith it...

Tim took a long draught from his mug and eyed the stranger in the hood
that left the tavern. After setting down his mug, he indicated to Ruffa.
"Hey, did you see that guy?"
"No," said Ruffa after looking around.
"He had the biggest dong I've ever seen on a man," said Tim.
  Ruffa stared at Tim strangely.
  "What?!" asked Tim.
  Ruffa shook his head.
