Kat woke up and remember where she was. She had just dreamt that she was
back at the movie studio, leading a simple life. She chuckled when she
relized that the studio will not exist for another five-hundred and
forty-five years.
Vincent Valintine was sitting up in the same position he was in when Kat
fell asleep the previous night. "Time to go," he said. Kat nodded.
They got up and cautiously left the item shop. They heard some
commotion on the other side of town. Vince carefully listened. "It's the
moogles," he said, "One of them is giving a speech. He's congradulating them
on eating the townsfolk. We should leave now while they are diverted. Kat
and Vince then made a stealthy retreat from Narshe.
After they both descended from the mountain, Vince asked Kat, "So who do
you think could fix this thing?"
Kat thought for a moment and then said, "I've heard that King Edgar of
Old Figaro was an expert of machines. Old Figaro isn't far from here. Let's
go. And so they trekked southward to Figaro.
"I never thought I'd be on an adventure like this," Kat said to Vince,
as the walked. Vincent remained silent, but Kat could tell he was listening.
"I always assumed that I would forever live in the shadow of my
ancestor, Spacecat I. He was a great hero in the history of this world. He
was one of the Materia Warriors, who defeated the Dark Moogle on Olympia and
saved the whole universe."
     "Sounds exagerated," said Vince.
"A lot of people think so, but that story is based on verifiable
historical facts. Anyway, I'm excited right now. When people hear about my
adventures, they won't just think of me as Spacecat's descendant. I'll be a
hero in my own right. I hoped that acting would allow me make my own mark,
but I only got roles because of who my ancestor was, and not because of my
own talent. I never got any good roles anyway... Hey, I think I see Tyrano,
I mean Figaro Castle in the background."
     "Tyrano?" asked Vince.
"Well, shortly after this point in history, Figaro was conquered by the
Reptites. That's why refer to it as Old Figaro in my time."
"Do you want to warn the King?" Vince deadpanned,
Kat's expression became sullen. She sighed. "I don't know," she said,
"Choosing not to try to assasinate Mog is one thing, but going face to face
with someone who is about to experience a preventable misfortune, and not
warning him, that is another... I don't know. It's hard." They both
walked silently for the rest of the trip.
