With a vengence for what the moogles had done to Bessie, and a newfound sense
of confidence, Kat made arrangements to lead a group of Henriksens to
Southvale to fight the moogles.
Remembering what she had seen in Henriksenia, she asked the Henriksen
Captain about the feasibility of every soldier at the keep splitting in two,
so that half of the resulting Henriksens could leave with her, while a number
equal to the original number of soldiers would stay and guard the Keep. He
informed her that reproduction is very strenuous for Henriksens and they
require about three days of rest before doing any physically demanding
activity.
Three days seemed a bit much, but it was worth it to get the extra
soldiers. After the three days, Kat and her troops marched over the mountain
pass, towards Southvale.
Kat: Are we there yet?
Lance: We just left. Some of the troops aren't even out of the keep yet.
Kat: Oh, okay. I'm bored. Let's play I Spy.
Lance: Sigh, if you insist.
Kat: Okay. You first.
Lance: I spy, with my little eye, something that begins with... the letter L!
Kat: Hmm... Could it be... the lake?
Lance: No, try again. I'll give you a hint. There are a lot of them around.
Kat: Uh... I've got it! Lips! Everyone here has lips, except for "Lipless"
Lance, the failed clone over there.
"Lipless" Lance: Shut u', don't 'ake 'un o' 'e!
Kat: Sorry. Anyway, is that right?
Lance: No, but you're on the right track.
Kat: Hmm, is it... Oh! I know what it is! Liverwurst!
Lance: [slaps forehead] No! I don't see any liverwurst around here. Think,
Kat, what are there a lot of around you right now?
Kat: [concentrates very hard] Um, blades of grass?
Lance: No, it starts with L, remember?
Kat: "Blades of grass" doesn't start with an L.
Lance: Oh, never mind. How about if you spy things and I guess what they are?
Kat: Okay. I spy, with my little eye, something that begins with A.
Lance: Okay, is it that antelope? [points to an antelope]
Kat: Nope. Keep guessing.
Lance: Hmm... Apple Tree? [points to an apple tree]
Kat: Nope.
Lance: Avalanche? [points to a nearby avalanche]
Kat: No.
Lance: Arcanis? [points to Arcanis]
Arcanis: Hi!
Lance: Quiet, you!
Kat: Nope, keep guessing.
Lance: Tell me! What could it possibly be?!
Kat: I can't believe you didn't get it. It's Angry German Mannequins Who
Don't Speak the Language Very Well And Are Just About To Ambush us, duh!
Mannaequins: Bereiten Sie vor sich zu sterben, puny Abschaum!
Lance: Oh my god! They must have been angered when you mentioned liverwurst.
Kat: Stay back, dummies! I have cowardice and I know how to use it!
Mannequin leader: Diese Berge sind unser natürlicher Lebensraum. Wenn Sie
durch überschreiten möchten, müssen Sie Ihre Weise durch kämpfen!
Kat: Um, uh, I know you are, but what am I?
The Mannequins attack, but are then severely beaten with their own detachable
limbs.
leader: OH-Nr.! Operation: " greifen Sie die stärkere Armee " ist ein Ausfall
noch einmal an! Rückzug, Männer, Rückzug!
Lance: Wow, that was easy.
And they kept on marching...
