Tyler had once been told that a prisoner of war had exactly two options:
escape or be killed. He figured he wasn't smart enough to do the former,
so he apparently decided to choose the latter.

Any guard that came within earshot was treated to a constant stream of
profanity, vituperatives and various suggestions about his or her
parentage. And the fact that Doma was now in Mog's hands gave him even
more arrogance. Luckily (on unluckily) for him, most guards were satisfied
with little more than a nasty look or a retort. Unluckily for them, it
only encouraged him to continue. Without a doubt, Tyler was the loudest,
most obnoxious, and most offensive prisoner the Domans had taken.
Unfortunately, when one soldier finally lost his temper and rushed into
Tyler's cell with sword drawn, it was decided that Tyler would be better
off in solitary confinement.

After a few days, Tyler realized why solitary was considered such an
extreme measure. It was BORING. Before, he could amuse himself by
provoking some reaction from his guards. Now he only saw one guard who
brought him meals, and this guy turned out to be old and deaf. He couldn't
taunt the old coot even for the few seconds he was within range of Tyler's
mouth.

For what seemed like the millionth time since he'd been moved to this dank
tomb, he sighed and jabbed his knuckles into his eyes, pressing harder and
harder until he began seeing stars. *If something doesn't happen soon,* he
thought grimly, *I'm going to have to swallow my own fist until I choke
to death.*

Okay, so it's kinda pointless, but I had time to kill. :)
