Of those who have heard of them, none are really sure what their origins or their purposes are. They are the Continuity Police. Their job is to make sure that effects logically follow their respective causes, and that paradoxes do not occur, and when they do occur, that the damage caused by them is minimal. They stealthily observe the world around them, looking for potential reality-deviants, and for new agents. Being a secret society, the Continuity Police don't have candidates for membership coming to them. They must seek out new agents. Once someone becomes an agent of the Continuity Police, they are not allowed to interact with the outside world in any way other than how their superiors tell them to. So when you hear about someone seemingly disappearing, chances are that they have been selected for membership in the Continuity. Such was the case with one major player in the second Moogle War. The selection process is very strict, and only the most qualified individuals are recruited. Well, usually, anyway... ---------- A moogle and a human, both wearing black suits and sunglasses, watched the monitor, which showed some creatures bumbling around outside Vector. "Personally," said the moogle, "I don't know what the higher ups in the organization see in this bunch." "Me either," said the woman, "But it's not our business to question them." "Right," said the Moogle, "Let's go." The two agents pressed the buttons on their lapels, and were teleported to where the candidates were. ----- Gork, Vulg, Blog and Snot were started when they were suddenly interrupted from their aimless wandering around outside the city they had just escaped from when a Moogle and a human female, both sharply dressed, appeared out of thin air in front of them. "Ah! Who the heck are you?" said Vulg, the imp. "I am Kulog, and this is my partner, Ivana," said the Moogle. "Our organization has had its eyes on you for a while now," said Ivana, "How would you like to work for us? If you accept, you will learn the secrets of the universe, and you will have a hand in influencing the course of history." "I dunno," said Snot, the miniature dragon, "We already work for Mogomra." "Yeah," said Gork, the gargoyle, "He respects us, treats us well, and pays us handsomely for the work we do. Wait a minute. What am I saying? He doesn't do any of that!" "Alright then. We're in. What do you want us to do?" Blog, the troll, said to the two agents. "We'll tell you after we take you to the group's headquarters," said Ivana. The two agents pressed their lapel buttons, and all six disappeared in a flash of light.
