Lady Paladin sighed restlessly. She tugged the white sheets over her body and turned. Her wide lips parted to murmur arcane words, and one name stood out more clearly than all other words.... Bacca....

Her fists clenched and unclenched. It had been so long, so very long. She shivered. His hand traveled up along her thigh. A sigh escaped her mouth. The white silken skirt of her chemise inched upward. The fingers traced the long white scar along her right thigh, the only reminder of the wound she received many months ago at Spiked Dwarf Pass. Her flesh shivered at the caresses.

"Please... Bacca..." she murmured, her arms reaching out. He kissed her hands, and shook his head with one of his charming smiles.

"Patience," he mumbled back. "Slow down, lady."

She shot him a look of mild annoyance. "I don't want to slow down." Bacca just chuckled in reply.

She grasped a hold of his shoulders and pulled him up closer. "What, you think that being held captive for a month has slowed me down, eh?" The healer twirled her body around so that the High Lord was beneath her. Before he could recover, her lips locked with his. He groaned as her kisses devoured him.

"Bacca..." she said, pulling back. Lady Paladin panted slightly, and grinned. The grin faded. "Bacca!" she yelled. He was vanishing beneath her, trailing away in soft whisps of color. "No.... no.." She pounded the pillow through his fading body.

Lady Paladin gasped awake. She unclenched the sheets, and felt everything around her was soaked with sweat.

Then the clarion call of trumpets shattered the still of the morning.
