"Recon, please explain to me again what this place is?" A cloaked figure stepped forward. "This is the, err... Anything Goes School of Sexual Arts. It's a holding place for a harem." "We're attacking a brothel?" asked Nicotron Z. Drugga grunted. "Thing is..." added the recon, "It's a bustling place for activity. Right now, they have a sorceress in there, a powerful esper, a geomancer..." "You know, aside from the fact they're keeping some powerhouses around through their art..." cut in Nicotron Z, "The vast majority probably don't want to fight. We could just demand the crystal and they probably would give it to us." "Wot!?!" "And then we could go pillage them anyway." "Datz bettah." "If they refuse, I'm certain we can win the day." chuckles Golbez. "Alright, Helm, take us in." The Redwing closed in through the clouds and became fully visible to the town. "Master, the system reports that there is a majickal barrier that prevents those of evil intent from passing through." "Damn convinient." muttered Golbez. "Radio to our backup. We may need it." "Gotcha." "We are now fourty metres from the barrier." "Hold." Golbez got onto a loudspeaker. "Alright, citizens of the Calypso Mountain Range, we demand you hand over the Crystal of Balance immediately." No response. "You have thirty seconds to bring down your barrier and permit us entry." Thirty seconds passed. No response. "Full right." The airship swerved to the right, exposing it's broadside to the barrier. "Ready cannons." Thousands of majitek cannons emerged from the broadside of the Red Wing. "Fire at will." A barrage of majickal bolts blasted against the barrier. The barrier almost appeared to be faltering, but finally held true against the barrage of cannon fire. "Hold fire." THe barrage stopped. "Hmmm... nice work there, Arcanis." grumbled Golbez. "Perhaps it's time to put a bit more muscle into this." Golbez held out his hand. A small ball of energy appears on his palm, but it quickly exploded into a long bolt of sickly green mana. The barrier faltered. "Soldiers! Get ready for teleport!" Everyone nodded. The barrier opened. A hole was punched. THe airship creaked. Half the crew was gone. The battle was on. * * * * * * * * * Drugga noticed himself standing in a fountain. In front of him were two figures who looked quite similar. "Who the hell are you?" one of them asked. "Da name iz Drugga, da klubba, yer exekutiuner!" "Bring it on, Orky!" Drugga jumped out of the fountain and laid a punching blow right to Bix' face. He fell over. Hortian pulled out an axe and swung at Drugga's back. It connected, and Drugga looked around. "Oooh, wanna get rough, eh?" Drugga pulled out his own axe, the huge muthafukka, and took a swing at Hortian. * * * * * * * * * Nicotron Z found himself standing in a small park area. The plants of the area seemed to be overgrowing at an exponential rate. He saw a large feline humanoid staring right at him. "Surrender immediately." "Who are you?" it asked. "I am Nicotron Z, savior of the earth." Nicotron Z started forward, but realized he couldn't move his legs. He was being covered by overgrowth. "Hmmm... nice party trick." Nicotron Z let his napalm jets open up and the growth quickly burned away. He noticed Gray wincing as he sprung free. "Alright, Pussy, it's on." * * * * * * * * * "Master, the battle seems to be going smoothly, but we aren't gaining much ground." "Grah, get the backup in here..." Golbez still had the energy bolt focused in the same area. "Come on, Arcanis, one of us has to break eventually..." From above the clouds, a second airship descended, with the title "Invincible" on it's side. On board... "Hmmm... so, Golbez needeth a wee bit of help with this one. The change is welcome." muttered the captain. He was a tall man, heavily armoured. His neck had a titanium plating over it, as did his left arm with was made of pure steel. His face showed that he was in his fifties. A long, graying ponytail extended from his head. "Prepare for the assault." "Yes, captain Cyan!" cheered several troops. "So, an Avariel be present, aye?" asked the heavily armoured Cyan to his recon. "So Master Golbez says." "I want her alive. If thy earlier report, about the one known as Nighthawk, be true, I hath an old slight I must avenge." Cyan flexed his steel hand. "Several, in truth." "Are we ready for the assault?" "Aye. Take prisoners." * * * * * * * * * More forces teleported into the harem. In one wing, Kenaron and Cait Sith stood behind several books they were using as shielding, firing off crossbow bolts by the ton. "Dammit, they just keep coming!" grumbled Cait Sith. "Bloody bunch of kupos..." grumbled Kenaron as he fired another bolt. He then stopped and froze. "What?" asked the cat. "It's him..." "What?" Cait Sith rose above the books. His quickly regenerating, supernatural body barely had time to begin reknitting its bones and closing numerous open wounds before a violent flurry of air lifted him away from the wall, only to slam him against it even harder. Most of his internal organs collapsed, but quickly reformed as his immortal body sought to heal itself. *You ignorant cretin!* Drasandin's telepathic voice cried, carrying shards of pain with it that cut through Levitos' mind like knives. *How could you be so stupid as to lose your chance at one of the most potentially powerful Crystals!? And you let the Geomancer survive!!* Levitos groaned in pain as he felt his blood literally turn into molten lava, burning most of his flesh off his bones. Drasandin slammed a painfully cold healing spell into him, so that he would not lose his corporeal for. It was much easier to torture one with substance. "M-master..." Levitos groaned through bleeding lips, trying to stand. Another blast of air slammed him into the stone wall of Drasandin's keep, and he collapsed to the floor. *The Geomancer! Do you have any idea how long it took me to find him, when I found the Yggdrasil had spawned one!? Now, thanks to your incompetence, not only has the esper unlocked the secret of the Crystal, but the Geomancer has unlocked his abilities, one of my only truly dangerous threats! You idiot!* A network of electrical energy was being passed through Levitos, which kept him standing upright with his muscles locked in place. Angrily, Levitos decided to give up pleading to Drasandin. He had outlived dozens of masters, including that buffoon Kefka. Of course, at that time he had still been using the name he had been born with and he had been in a different form. Now, banned from Abterrus for serving Kefka, Levitos forsook his family name, and wandered the world in the pursuit of one worthy of his skills. Drasandin, he decided, certainly was not. Levitos lifted a hand and summoned the Atma Weapon, the incredible force that had been imbued upon the first two espers created experimentally in the War of the Magi, himself and his sister. The thrumming blade of pure red death materialized in his hands, the opposite of the blue sword of life his sister could invoke. Drasandin's red-irised eyes widendend in shock as Levitos cut through the invisible coils of Geomancy with the blood-red blade. But that was impossible, no magic could combat Geomancy... then Drasandin noticed that the blade gave off no aura of magic. Howling, Levitos leapt at Drasandin. Drasandin dodged, but felt fiery pain blossom in his side as the sword nick him. Drasandin turned and unleashed a bolt of lightning at the demon. Levitos flew backwards as the bolt impacted him. Picking himself up, Levitos faced Drasandin again. Oh yes, this battle would be a challenge. As the sounds of magical combat echoed throughout the dark keep of Drasandin, a green-winged avariel quietly and quickly made good her escape, a shining Crystal in hand. * * * Arcanis stood on the small balcony that reached out from his room in the Anything Goes School of Sexual Arts, surveying the beautiful landscaping work of the harem complex. After a few moments, he reached into his robes and produced a small, faintly glowing stone-- the stone that had let him pass from Abterrus, and into the huge, beautiful, wondrous realm of Earth. Arcanis mentally lifted the stone into the air above his palms, and channeled a complex stream of mana into the gem, watching its glow brighten into an oval of iridescent light. "Arcanis, you call?" a female voice echoed across the dimensional void, startling Arcanis. The image of a blue-haired woman materialized and wavered faintly in the aura of light. "Um... Atma? Where's Bahamut? Why are you on the receiving end of this...?" Arcanis asked suspiciously. He had talked with Atma a few times, but she was very seclusive, and usually only talked to the other Firstborn... well, the espers who didn't conceal the fact that they were Firstborn, as some did. Two, to Arcanis' knowledge, besides himself. "Bahamut has... fallen..." Atma spoke, incompassionately. "I have been chosen to lead our people." Arcanis stared in shock. "Now, why do you call?" "Um, well," Arcanis stammered, collecting his scattered wits. How could Bahamut have been crystallized, safe on the moon? Only espers could reach him there, and it was treason punishable by eternal banishment, as had been inflicted on Atma's dishonorable brother, for attacking the ruler of the espers. "Bahamut told me to contact him if my mission is either completed or altered..." "And has it been? Have you killed Kefka, or destroyed Crystal Peak?" Atma inquired. Arcanis sighed. "I... I don't know if Kefka is dead. Probably not. The last time I saw him, I was preparing to combat him alongside my companions, when I was summoned here..." "Why didn't you return when you could, to save your friends?" "Well, I don't think it would do any good... they probably died by Kefka's hands as soon as I dissapeared. And I guess... well, after Kefka defeated me the first time, I have to admit I'm terrified of trying again," Arcanis finished, his eyes downcast. The image of Atma in the aura of light smiled. "Your companions from then are alive and well, Arcanis. Kefka has fallen." Arcanis looked up in surprise and intense relief. "What? How?" "Thanatos... I believe you knew him as Ladaku, defeated him. Though he is now dead, all your other comrades are alive and well." Arcanis sighed in relief, feeling as if a thousand tons of guilt had been lifted from his shoulders. Before he could wonder about why a god had been traveling with them, though, an icy bolt of pain stabbed through him. "Arcanis!?" Atma's voice called in worry. Arcanis found himself on the ground, his vision swimming. Picking himself up, he saw that the shield he had created around the harem was wavering, about to give out. Arcanis threw his power into sustaining it, but too late. He felt a teleportation spell pass through the weakened magic before he manage to restore it. "What's going on, Atma? Who is attacking this place?" Arcanis cried over the sounds of battle that had begun echoing throughout the harem. In the magical aura, Atma paused, casting a spell. "It's... Golbez..." "What?" "Arcanis, you can't hold the barrier against him forever, he has one of the Crystals, and the power of the Lunarians," Atma said worriedly. "I will try to open a portal out of Abterrus to send help... there are several Crystals in play here." Arcanis panted heavily with the effort of maintaining the shield against Golbez, wherever he was. Several troops were running down the hall towards him, crying with bloodlust when the spotted him panting on the ground. Arcanis sighed as he let the shield break-- if most of the enemy troops were already in the harem, what was the point of keeping it up? Arcanis gestured, the aura of Atma dissapeared, and his staff flew from a nearby wall into his hands. The group of enemy troops died in a flurry of violet fire before they even realized what was happening. * * * Gray sat cross-legged in a small garden area, smiling wildly as he made a small plant dance across the stone. The versatility and ease with which he could use his strange power amazed him, and he had been practicing all day. Of course, while the Yggdrasil's power filled him with purpose when he listened to the world's song, Gray could not help but be disturbed by the infinite screaming of the planet. Gray could feel each scream connected to a different plant or animal, and sometimes thought he would break down into tears with the agony of the earth's pain. Gray looked up in surprise as a loud voice blared through the air of the harem compound. He stood nervously as it quieted for several moments, and then the air above the harem... shimmered. Gray wondered if that was Arcanis' barrier thing. Gray turned leave, wondering what was going on, when he found himself face to face with a large... thing. He seemed to be clad in a completely enclosed shell of armor, with a ridiculously contrasting cloak flung out behind him. The creature looked at him. "Surrender immediately," it spoke with a slow, grating, monotone voice. "Who are you?" Gray asked suspiciously. The planet was screaming at him that this creature was deadly. Gray immersed himself in the power of nature. "I am Nicotron Z, savior of the Earth," the figure spoke in that same monotone voice. Thick tendrils of plant life coiled themselves around the creature's legs, under Gray's direction, as it started forward. The creature looked down. "Hmm..." it mused, noting the plants. "Nice party trick." Something on the creature's back moved, and fir incinerated the plants. Gray winced as the death screams of the nearby plants echoed throughout his mind. "Alright, Pussy, it's on," the armored figure spoke darkly. The creature brought up an arm, pointing it towards Gray, and a bolt of energy erupted from the appendage. Gray smiled and willed the energy still. The energy was merely a mixture of elemental energy, which Gray had been experimenting with all day. He pooled the bolt into an orb, and changed it into fire. He fed power into it, and in moments Gray had reversed the strange creature's attack into a rolling wall of flame. The fire enveloped the surprised creature in a flurry of red light. Gray blinked in surprise as the armored figure stepped through the wall of flame and advanced quickly towards Gray. Gray let the fire die, trying to think of a way to harm this creature. It was obviously immune to flame, and probably to heavy to blow away easily. But that metal armor... Gray smiled and closed his eyes, listening as the air began to hum with energy. The creature faltered in his advance as the air wavered with crackling, invisible energy. The armored creature leapt for Gray, but a flurry of electricity hurled him away. The creature howled as lightning poured into him, conducted by his armor. Gray let the flurry of electricity continue to hold the metal-clad creature to the stone wall as he left, searching for someone who could tell him what was going on. * * * "Arcy!" A female voice called. Arcanis turned, taking out the ground of soldiers that surrounded him with a shockwave of concussive power. Pyxie rushed up, followed closely by Pokey, who frantically looked around the wide room for signs of the enemy. "What's going on? Why are these people attacking the harem?" she asked, panting from the exertion of the battle. Arcanis sighed. "Pyxie," Arcanis said, hefting his staff to show Pyxie the Crystal on the top of it. "Do you have anything like this inside the harem?" Pyxie blinked as she studied the glowing Crystal of Ether. "That looks sorta like the thing Gooshaki wears around his neck... and yeah, there is a gem in the vaults that look sorta like that..." she said thoughtfully. "Three..." Arcanis sighed. Ever since he had discovered that the artifact he commanded was the legendary Crystal of Ether, Arcanis had been doing research on the obscure history of the twelve Crystals. "Pyxie, can you take me to the one in the vaults? It is very important that the people attacking us don't get it. And where is Gooshaki?" "I don't know where Gooshaki is, I saw him walking outside the harem earlier..." Pyxie said. "And sure, I'll show you the one in the vaults. This way," she said, taking off briskly down a hall, followed protectively by Pokey. Arcanis felt an arrow impact the invisible barrier around himself, and turned to cut apart the group of archers with strands of power before catching up with Pyxie. He gave Arcanis a look before leaving, demanding that he watch out for their mistress. "No one but me knows where my treasures are," Pyxie mentioned, leading Arcanis into her spacious closet. "But hard times are coming. And to tell you the truth, you probablly know more about the crystal than I." Silks and satin surrounded them, creating a protective cocoon. Pyx closed her eyes and whispered softly. The materials parted to reveal a portal opening against the closet wall. Pyxie waved her hand with a flourish. "Right this way, sir." Arc took a couple of steps, but Pyxie's brooding voice stopped him. "For many years I've established this harem as a haven, a home for all of us." Her sad voice, usually filled with laughter, tugged at him. "But now, it's all coming to an end. I know what will happen...and...we're prepared for it." "What do you mean?" Arcanis asked with concern. A sense of doom enveloped him at her words. Pyxie looked into the black portal, her eyes blanking for a moment as if seeing something that wasn't there. A shadow of deep anger and pain flashed over her face. But with a blink, she turned back to Arc, smiling reasuringly at him. "Don't worry your wee head about it," she said, tilting her head towards the portal. "I've already made plans so everything will be ok. Now let's go get the Crystal of Balance. Empress frantically ran down the halls in search for the missing (again) boy. Almost everyone, even the villagers, had gathered at the Mydia Room where they were being sent in groups to safety by Aryun's transportation device. As she stepped out to the garden, she saw Gage by the pond, surrounded by three infidels closing in on him. "Why you perverts!!" Empress made her way towards the group, shimmery light surrounding her. "How dare you gang up on one little kid!" The three men turned to watch the girl racing towards them, enchanted for a moment at her beauty. Empress used her Chameleon technique to distract the men, making her in their individual eyes the girl of their dreams. Seeing the usually timid Empress so angry paused Gage for a moment, but seeing the men now surrounding the harem concubine put him into action. He pointed the wand he was holding towards the men and muttered something he hoped he remembered correctly. "Oh blimey!" he exlaimed, "This thing really works!" Empress looked around her in confusion, wondering there the men went. Gage pointed down to her feet. There on the grass was an ugly gigantic mushroom, a scrawny lizard with pokodots and a star shaped twig. "Wow, talk about strange," she said in wonder. "Are you ok? And where did you get that anyways?" Gage puffed out his chest, feeling real manly for protecting a lady. "Well I kinda borrowed it from Arc." Emprss arched a mocking eyebrow at the young boy. "You mean stole it, more likely." Before Gage could protest, she grabbed hand and dragged him back to the harem. "Now c'mon! We've got to get back to the Mydia Room at once!" Drugga stood his ground a couple of feet away, just as bloody as the twins. "Why the hell won'tcha just give up!" Hortian wiped sweat off his face as he watched Drugga gearing up for the next round. "Yea man," Bix yelled, "we've been at this for half an hour already! Sheezus!" Drugga tossed his big-ass axe atop a pile of already used weapons. "Wot! Jus shut 'da hell up!" With a wink at his bro and whispered, "Don't sweat it, this one's fer me." "Yo! Wherez we gonna git some booze tho?" "What? Dont you know? Your wish is our command." Hortian stepped up to the fountain. With a touch on the marble, the clear flowing water was replaced with a gucky brown liquid. Drugga stepped up to take a big whif with his orky nose. Mmmm, fungus beer alright. And the only human he's known who ever lived after drinking the ronchy stuff was Jaana. Bix stood next to Drugga, trying not to look into his eyes lest he realize his plans. "So m'boy," he said cheerfully, "guess it's first one to drop looses, eh?" "Ain't gonna be me, thaz fo shoo." The unconcious form of Drugga lay floating on the other side. "Man bro!" Hortian exclaimed, slapping Bix on the shoulder, "I really thought you were a gonner there!" Bix tried to smile but instead he scrambled out of the fountain and proceeded to puke the fungus beer onto the grass. Him and Drugga had been drinking the poisonous stuff for over an hour now. He had felt his body growing weaker and weaker, thinking he was done for. But as he gulped down another loadful of booze, he heard a splash and turned to see Drugga slump into a stupor. "Guess the Drunken Master technique saved your hide, boy!" Two years ago, Pyx had introduced them to a drunkard she had known while growing up at the brothel. Knowing Bix's love for alcohol, it was her birthday present to Bix to have him train with the great Jackie "Acid" Chan, who could drink every and any booze without being knocked out. "This baby's been busy this morning," Aryun boasted, looking upon her creation with pride. "All the villagers and most of our people have arrived to Bronwyn Isle safely." Pokey sighed in relief. It's been a hectic morning alright, gathering everyone while at the same time worrying about Pyxie and Arcanis. What's the Crystal of Balance have to do with all this? "So who else are we waiting for other than Arc and Pyxie?" "Let's see...Bix, Hortian, Baha, Ruby, Emprss, Gage and the other strangers." The entrance door banged open and two figures raced into the room. "Scratch that," Aryun said, grinning. "Looks like she found the lil rascal...and a few extra others." Emprss tilted her question, looked behind her, and let out a frustrated screech. A group of those invaders had followed them from the garden! "Aryun!" Pokey commanded, "Get yourself and the others to safety while I take care of these guys!" The head concubine shook her head and snapped her goggles onto her face. Snapping her fingers twice, her strict scientific outfit was replaced by a full leather bodysuit with spiked braclets and collar. "Negative," she answered back. "This time, the girls get to have some fun too. heh heh heh! Empress, git your ass working!" Before he could order them again, Pokey soon found himself busy keeping his body parts intact. Just as one of them swung his fist at her, she sidestepped and slammed her wrists down on the arm, slicing it away. Blood splattered on the floor as the man screamed in agony. The other guy saw his chance and grabbed Aryun from behind. "Hey lovey," he leered down her shirt. "Hows about I keep you alive if you keep me entertained?" "How about you entertain me by letting me kill you?" With that she dropped to her knees, slipping free from his grasp and tying a cord around his waist. With a mighty yank, the sharp wire cut the man in half. "Oh my god!" Emprss whimpered. Never in her life had she seen so much blood or violence. "Are you ok Aryun!" The concubine laughed gleefully and pulled her goggles off her crimson splattered face. "That's why I have these for, m'dear. Watch out!" Emprss felt a small figure shoving her to the ground just as arrows sliced their air. She felt something sticky on her and looked down to see Gage sprawled on her lap, an arrow lodged to his side. "G-gage..." With shaky hands, she broke the end of the arrow and wrapped the wound with her skirt. Aryun appeared, swooped down and carried Gage while two big hands suddenly lifted her up and followd. "You stay here and watch over him," Pokey said kindly, putting her down behind a marble pillar. "Aryun and I will handle the others. Your skills are more needed here." Emprss nodded, tears filling her eyes as she focused her attention to the youngest harem member. "You foolish boy," she whispered, taking a closer look at the wound, tears slipping down her face. Gage moaned in pain and tried to sqirm away. "Stay still, Gage. I promise you'll be ok. Lia had no idea what to do about this; although she had studied combat magic, she'd never had to employ it against human beings. Or intelligent beings of any sort. So when the magic started flying, at first she just tried to counter it. If someone launched ice bolts, she threw sheets of fire to melt them. If they threw fireballs, she threw snowballs. And against anything metal she threw lightning. She aimed her magic only at enemy magic; she didn't really know whether she should get involved in a battle between groups of humans. What she *really* wanted was to find Gooshaki and get the hell out of here. But he was nowhere to be found. She began moving around, trying to find him, hoping he was okay. With all this magic around, he could get seriously hurt. He didn't understand magic, and with this much of it in the air that ignorance would not be bliss. But as the battle wore on, Lia began to feel lightheaded again, as she had before she met the firecat. Her spells seemed to be getting stronger, too. That was strange; they should be getting weaker as her powers were depleted - she knew that much from her teaching. There was a ship, in the air. In the *air*? Oh, no. Not in the air. Let humans into the skies and the whole neighborhood would just go *right* downhill. Lia felt indignation permeating the lightheaded buzz. Humans flying in machines, huh? Let's see how well they do when their machines don't work. She meant it as a warning; something to disable it, hurt it. She threw Thunder at the ship's metal hull. Something strong enough to short out a few circuits, repressurize the place... It didn't do what she wanted it to. She threw Thunder - she *knew* she did. But the power was ten times stronger than it should have been; a Thundaga-plus level effect. She didn't just punch a little hole in it, she downed it - in one shot. Presumptuous they might have been to think they could enter the avariel skies...but they probably hadn't deserved to die for it. How could they survive such a crash, their ship in flames with systems fried, from such a height? Lia stared at her hands, her magician's hands, in horror. She hadn't meant to kill. The ship had not struck out at *her*. What would Gooshaki say to her now, if he saw what she had done? She had to get out of here. She had just involved herself in something and she had no idea what it was - but after a trick like that *someone* would be after her. Hopefully Gooshaki would be able to find her... The barrier had just been broken, allowing more of the reserve soldiers in to the fight. The defensive line of the harem was retreating, and soon, the other crystals would be in his grasp. He just had to wait it out. As he watched from above, he noticed a figure running toward the harem from the beach. "Hmm. What is a firecat doing so far north?" He grabbed a telescope and examined the figure. He saw the firecat, who's tail was not lit, a rarity among firecats, running at top speed toward the harem. He wore a necklace and hanging from it was... "No! I can't belive it! It IS!" The crystal of nature so inconspicuously hung from this cats neck. "Amazing. I was worrying about that one a bit. Who would have that it would have just come to me? Now... to get it." ------------------------------------------------------------------ Gooshaki was nearing the harem walls. There seemed to be no fighting outside of the walls, so he couldn't really see what was going on, but he could hear sounds, and he didn't like it one bit. He still needed to get inside. He rounded the corner, expecting a clear shot to the gate several meters away... but instead he came to a stop so sudden he nearly tripped over his face. In front of him, standing halfway between him and the gate stood a dark shape. It clothed in Black with a dark-deep blue cape, and wearing a honed helmet, hiding all of his face save for two glowing eyes. Gooshaki instantly thought of the figure as a Gi death night, of who he had heard tales of as a child. The figure extended his left hand, palm turned upward. In it, a glowing ball of fire formed, just sitting..., waiting...., it's flames reaching upwards. "Give me your necklace cat." The figure spoke, sending chills down Gooshaki's spine. There was something about that flame... Oh yes. Gooshaki's mind snapped back into place. He was looking for Lia. She was important. He didn't have time for this. However... that fireball was a serious threat. Again. Magic. "Damn this infernal art, " Gooshaki thought to himself. "What can I do?" Without thinking, he began to growl. "If that fireball hits me, I'm a goner. I can't outrun his magic. That leaves for me one thing." Gooshaki charged, and leaped into the air, attempting to tackle the figure. "Ballsy little cat." Goblez thought as he flicked his wrist upward, palm outward, to send the fireball forth. As the two bodies hurled toward each other, Gooshaki's necklace flashed a brilliant emerald green. Both were surprised as to what happened next. An ice ball, mimicking the fireball in all appearance save color emanated from necklace and struck the fireball. Gooshaki landed at Goblez's feet. Both of them were taken aback by this course of action, so for a split second in time, neither of them moved. Then, in a flurry two things happened. Goblez floated up above Gooshaki. He was no fool. It's unwise to let a 600 lb wild cat with big sharp claws and a gaping maw near you. Gooshaki dodged left and toward the gate. he was no fool, It's unwise to let a 250 lb evil death night with magic spells and glowing eyes near you. Goblez quickly responded, he began to follow Gooshaki, hovering far above and slightly behind him. An arc of lightning emanated from his right hand. Gooshaki never looked back. The crystal again flashed green and a dome of earth grew out of the ground surrounding him. The lighting bolt struck at the instant of the dome's completion, and then the dome receded as fast as it had formed. Gooshaki was a bit disoriented, but continued on his path. He had entered the harem walls, but Goblez was still following him. "That BASTARD!" Goblez began hurling a frenzy of spells, ice spikes met with walls of fire. Tornadoes met answered with giant walls of earth. Flares shielded by temporary bubbles of concrete. Goblez kept flinging spells, the crystal kept countering, and Gooshaki kept running. Suddenly, amidst the crystal's geomancy and Goblez's magic, a deafening crack was heard overhead. Both figures faltered as the noise and the bright flash unnerved them. Gooshaki continued to run. Goblez looked up. "How unfortunate," he growled. "leave the skies for two minutes and the tide of the battle changes." With that, and a wave of his hand, Goblez teleported away. Gooshaki slowed down. He still needed to find Lia, but he wasn't being chased by a magical fiend. Thank goodness for small favors. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- Gooshi Subj: [ffml] [HD] The King is *Never* dead. On one side, Kenaron and Cait Sith, making the last stand of the century. On the other, many, many dead bodies and a figure they stared at in awe. The silence was broken by a thundering explosion. Both sides rushed to the window to observe the source. One of the two airships was splayed out onto the earth, having crushed a small potion of the town. The other airship, the Red Wing, still stood silently in the air, blasting away at the walls of the harem. "So, maybe the old buzzard is kaput. I was getting sick of serving the old tounged moron..." muttered the figure. Kenaron whirled about, pointing his crossbow at it. "D...don't tempt me..." he stuttered. THe figure turned and looked at him. The figure in question was about five feet tall. A metal arm for his left arm, a normal arm for his right. Two rather impressive wings donned his back. His face was contorted, half mechanical and have biological. An antenna sprouted from the top of his fuzzy head. The Cymoogle chuckled and pointed to it's chest. "If you would kill your emperor, do so." Kenaron aimed the crossbow, placed his finger on the trigger, and then lowered it down. "Forgive me, Majesty. How could I ever be tempted to slay ye, greatest of Moogles." "Flattery will get you nowhere." chuckled the cymoogle. He raised his metallic hand, and lightning bolts blasted into Kenaron. Kenaron let out one last scream as his fur crackled in flames. The figure looked to Cait Sith. Cait Sith did not hesitate for a moment. His Moogleboar mount raised it's crossbow at the cymoogle as he dove off, scampering down the hall. He heard the Moogleboar scream one last time as the figure blasted it away. The figure looked at the two charred corpses. A thought crossed his mind. No, there would be plenty of time for that later, after he found these 'harem members.' He chuckled. Since the Invincible was down, that meant Cyan was, if not dead, out of commission for awhile. Golbez was probably freaking out over the destruction of the Invincible, which gave him a chance to escape. He strolled down the hallway. They were evacuating. "Well", he mused, "Guess I'd better find this teleportation device and the crystal before Golbie gets it." He opened a door and strolled through it, stopping rather quickly. Cowering in the corner of the room were two young maidens and a man. Of course. In any evacuation, there are always some who are missed. Still, this must be his lucky day. Slamming the door shut, he decided let his latest gifts loose. From his sides, several metal tentacles sprung loose. The threesome looked on in utter terror as they realized just who this was. "That's right, children. You're about to become the first victims of the latest incarnation of Mog, King of the Moogles!" -- The eternal lord of darkness... The daggers he clutched dripped with the blood of enemy troops that had filled the harem complex what seemed mere seconds before. Now, though, only an eerie silence rose to challenge Gray as he searched frantically for any of his companions in the empty School. As Gray turned at a bend in the hallway, he slammed into an enemy soldier running the opposite direction. Both stumbled backwards and fell, but Gray caught himself and got to his feet quickly, nimbly dispatching the soldier before the heavily armored man could rise. He ran on. The cries of the planet was a dull roar in the back of Gray's mind, the power of Geomancy at his fingertips if he should happen to encounter any real danger. Gray hadn't blocked out the world's song since the fighting had begun, despite his fear that it would drive him mad if it suffused him much longer. He held out, though. Gray rounded another corner and burst through a door. Gray had time to notice that he had entered one of the School's larger courtyards before a large hand gripped him around the neck and hoisted him off the ground. "Oh, it's you. Sorry," Pokey murmured, putting Gray down. Gray gasped his thanks, rubbing his neck. He sighed in relief as he saw that everyone had gathered in the courtyard, and was currently preparing to evacuate via BahamutX and Ruby. It seemed he was late. Pyxie and Arcanis both waved to him in the distance, and Gray sheathed his daggers, hoping that this ordeal would soon be over. -Arcanis Subj: [ffml] [HD] Harem No More Date: 5/17/01 9:44:55 AM Central Daylight Time From: jaypyx@yahoo.com (Jaymie) Reply-to: ffml@yahoogroups.com To: ffml@yahoogroups.com Aracnis watched with solem eyes as the harem party flew away from the utter chaos surrounding him. He and Pyxie had arrived in time to see the last enemy dispatched by Pokey and Aryun. BahamutX, Hortian, Ruby and a drunk Bix soon followed. All hell had broken loose at the sight of the unconcious Gage. To see the helplessness in their eyes, the destruction of their beloved home was something he had never wanted to see...but was helpless to make it any better. "Damn circumstances," he muttered angrily, "and damn fate for bringing us into their lives. May their journey take them far away to safetly." The teleportation device had been destroyed during battle, and so BahamutX and Ruby were deligated the task of deliverying their mistress and the rag tag group to their planned meeting place. "But at least the Crystal is with them," he sighed, feeling such a heavy burden wash over him, "and that gives us some time." He looked one last time at the fading violet and red blur, then turned resolutely back to enter the battle once more. *** Subj: [ffml] [HD] A whole lot of nothing with everything packed in between. "Lord?" asked one of his cloaked minions. "Burn it. Napalm the fucking thing to the ground." he walked off to his cabin. This assault had been a dismal failure. Not only did Golbez fail to aquire the crystals he had hoped to, but in the process one of his airships was destroyed somehow and he lost two of his stronger warriors in the fray of things. He looked at his other hitters rather angrily. Drugga, in turn, strolled over to the side of the airship and proceeded to vomit. "Fuck, weez iz gunna hafta find 'dem loozer twinz 'n show 'dem 'ow ta drink." "I believe they already showed you that..." grumbled Nicotron Z. "Shut da fuck up. It ain't like yooze did any bettah. Ah kant belive this shit." "Neither can I." snarled Golbez. "Oh, 'ey." belched Drugga. "We've finished pillaging the harem building." announced Golbez whilst examining his hand. "There is not a living soul in the area anymore. I have fliers hunting down those that fled. We are about to begin torching the area." * * * * * * * * * The flames licked the nighttime sky from across the horizon. The entire summit of the Calypso mountain range was ablaze. Cyan's mechanical eye focused in on the flames. Golbez had napalmed the area. After his airship had literally exploded, Cyan found himself flung to this peak, miles away. It was amazing, even to him. This body of his seemed to know no follies. However, if Golbez had failed to capture the crystal, than he had not fufilled his part of the bargain. The pact was through, for now, at least. Something else was troubling him, however. The maps he examined showed where his kingdom had been, Doma, under the title of Wangland. If General Wang had seriously taken control of the kingdom after he was gone... That settled it. He would head for Wangland immediately. * * * * * * * The small daemon screeched as it fell to the ground, lifeless. Arcanis sighed as he lowered the shield from the party. They should be safe now. Their little band were, as far as Junior could tell, all that was left of the harem and their comrades. Arcanis, Lia, Gooshaki, Gray, himself, and Cait Sith. There was one thing that bothered Junior more than anything else. They had come across three people during thier escape. Their clothing had been obviously torn off rather violently, and the marks on their bodies suggested a terrible trauma. This seemed to confirm Cait Sith's story about the death of Kenaron and of his mount. They all sat around the fire. Junior sighed. If it was true, he had to find him. "Guys." he began. "I have to go." Arcanis looked at him rathered worriedly, but no words were said. SIlently, Junior gathered his possessions and strolled off into the night. * * * * * * * * Mog gave the flaming mountains on last look as he carried himself off in the wind.
