Subj: [ffml] [HD]Introspective thoughts. The entier room was red. The couch and loveseat were red. The curtains were red. Even the lamp shade was red, though it was off. Natural light poured into the room. He crawled up onto the couch, instincivly dangling his tail off the edge. He had learned at a very young age that he could easly cause big problems with that thing. Now, he doesn't even think about it anymore. The handling of his tail is second nature. Second nature. Not first nature. It was learned. Now it was completely a part of him; inalienable and essential. When his tail goes out, he is saddend, and when it is lit, he feels complete. It isn't born lit. He must grow into it. Second nature. These thoughts filled his head. He thought about this flame. Why, he wondered, would animals have a flame growing at the end of their tail? It was somthing he had always seen as a givin. Birds have wings, people have arms, and firecats have tails. This is simply the way it is, or so he always thought. Now he was dwelling on the why. Birds have wings becuase they naturally evolved them. They adapted to flight. Humans have arms because they had to learn to carry things back to their homes to feed their family. They natually evolved also. Bu the flame on the firecats tail is somthing different isn't it? It's not a form of the body. How could it have been evolved. Though yes, it is really useful, but what is its purpose? This question disturbed Gooshaki. Generally, things in nature are the way they are for a reason. The light of the window had moved. The sun had changed it's posistion. The rays from the window had crept onto Gooshaki's eyes. He could think of an answer to his fire question. But he did not like it. He did not like it at all. Magic. Was his tail magic? Was that a magic flame? Why could it come and go? Why could he start it with his mind? What implications does this have? The warm rays of the sun comforted him. He got of the couch and curled up right in the sunbeam. As he dozed, he held his tail straight up into the air. Somthing that he does as second nature. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gooshaki awoke. Time had passed. It was now early evening. He had dreamt of his tail. It been an magical fire. He was eating with several people. In his dream these people had been his friends. Bix was there, as well as Pyxie, his brother, and Lia. Gray was there, but he wan't eating with them, he was just watching. A servant had come to bring out dessert on a big platter with a large metal covering dome. The tray was set down. The servant lifted up the dome to reveal a glowing ball of energy. Bix said he was too full, and that he couldn't have any. Gray did not move. Pyxie gave herself a small protion, but Lia dove in, spooning up a large portion of the glowing ball onto her plate and devouring it. Gooshaki didn't want any. He didn't want any at all. He jumped down off the bench he was laying on and ran away. As he looked back his tail ignighted. The fire was wild. Sending jets of flame upward. Gooshaki ran faster and faster. The fire that usually was containted to the tip of the tail slowly spread. Crawling up the tail... spreading to the back of his legs... Faster and Faster he ran. Out the door, into the garden. The fire spread to his belly. He was scared, he was in agonizing pain as the fire slowly spread... to his front legs, with lighting speed he ran, down the mountain, toaward the sea... the fire spreading to his neck. He would have howled in agony if he wasn't hell bent on reaching the ocean. The fire had enveloped his face. His fur had all but burned off. His skin was begining to char. Ashes begain to fall off of his body. An observer wouldn't have been able to identify the body shape of the immolate creature. It was just fire. A massive ball of fire, racing down toward the beach. He then collapessed. Too much of him was gone. Too much. He collapssed. In his dream he died. He walked out the door, into the garden. He walked down the mountain, toward the sea. He walked down toward the beach. He reached the oceans edge. He put out his fire. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gooshi
