Zoltan examined the plans that Balthazar had laid out.

"It is an interesting vehicle."

"Yes. I based it on the Reptite technology of the old kingdom, the realm
ruined by Krell, Lord of Terror."

"I see. A means of flight. I like it. Begin immediately, Balthazar."

Balthazar nodded and left. Melchior, the Guru of Life, strolled up.

"Emperor Zoltan, the expeditions have turned up a massive structure, which I
believe to be a "Gear" a warmachine developed by the Reptites and used by
our ancestors."

"I see."

"This paticular Gear has the words 'Alexander' written on it."

Zoltan blinked.

"Bury it. Bury it all. Let no man ever touch the horrendous creation known
as a 'Gear' again."

Melchior nodded and left.

Gaspar was not present, as usual.

Zoltan sighed and hoisted himself from his throne. It had been a long day.
His wife, Katherine, strolled up.

"You need to relax." she said with her usual seductive smile. "Might I
suggest you come with me?"

Zoltan chuckled.

"Hard to resist."

The pair walked down a hallway, when Zoltan suddenly felt a chill down his
spine. A second later, a voice was heard behind him.

"Hello, Tyrquah."

Zoltan whirled about, almost knocking Katherine over. Before him stood a
fellow Lizar, clad in purple robes. His skin was the palest white.

"Guroos?"

"Yes, Tyrquah, or Krell or Zoltan or whatever it is you go by these days.."

"Excuse me?" piped up Katherine.

Zoltan glared at Guroos.

"Whilst you have been sticking around here, I have been world walking. I've
learned much, let I never let my eye off you. Clever, really, anihilating
one kingdom and starting a new one with the survivors."

"That's not true!" yelled Katherine. "Zoltan was the slayer of Krell!"

"Oh dear. Tyrquah, honesty was never your goodpoint, aye? I guess that's why
I'm the holy figure here. Katherine, I would hate to tell you, but your
husband *IS* Krell!"

"Silence!" yelled Katherine. "I will call the guards."

"No, Katherine..." gurgled Zoltan. "I am afraid that he speaks the truth. I
am Krell, Lord of Terror. I saw the damage that I had done in my rage and I
wished to restore it."

"No..." muttered Katherine. Her mind was racing. Zoltan, the kindest, most
caring individual she'd have ever met was KRELL, the one who butchered
thousands? THe one who brought those ghastly creatures, the Orks, to a
point where had mankind not taken to the skies, there would be no more
mankind?

"Damn you, Guroos. I was trying to make amends."

"You did a good job. Unfortunately, your job is to be evil, and if I can't
kill you I'm gonna make sure you stay that way."

"Krell..." muttered Katherine, looking at him like a puppy that had just
been abandoned by it's mother, "I hate you. You've made a mockery of us
all. To thing I bore your children.... to think-"

Tears flooded her face as she rushed off down the hallway.

Zoltan dropped his head in shame.

Katherine's screams of humiliation could be heard down the hall. Every one
was like a knife shoved under a toenail to Zoltan. Guroos merely watched
the spectacle with glee. His nemesis in true pain, again.

However, for Zoltan, the greatest pain was yet to come.

A young boy's voice slowly muttered something to itself, albeit quite
hearable.

"My father... is Krell?"

Janus, nine years old, let his cat, Alfador, drop from his arms as he stared
at Zoltan with a look of bewilderment. From behind him came Zoltan's twin
daughters, Wilma and Schala, thirteen years old.

Zoltan sighed.

"Yes."

Janus merely looked at him. His face was flushed, his entire life a falsity.
He had been taught that Krell was the ultimate evil, the most despicable
being of all, and Krell was his father. Wilma and Schala also said
nothing.

Zoltan merely remained quiet. He cast an icy glare at Guroos, who merely
stood there.

"If you want to fight, Tyrquah, I'm game. Let this entire floating continent
crash to the ground; You are Krell, and these are just lambs."

"NO!" yelled Zoltan angrily and he unleashed a bolt of energy at Guroos, who
took to the bolt and disapeared. Zoltan fell to his knees with a wimper.
"Why does he..." he dropped his head slowly.

"You've never been violent before." wispered Schala slowly. Zoltan raised
his head. His children...

"Krell..." sighed Wilma. "My father is Krell, the people's ultimate
enemy..."

His children...

"My daddy is evil." muttered Janus.

...

The sun had set over the horizon. Whilst the clouds below cast thunder and
rain on the torn earth, the moonlight lit the Kingdom of Zeal.

Zoltan looked at his family. His family that, moments before, had loved him,
looked up to him, cherished him. And now...

Zoltan got up. Tossing his crown to the side he began to run, through the
throne room, down the royal hall, through the courtyard, through the great
gates...

"Running away, Tyrquah?" asked Guroos, now running beside him.

Tyrquah said nothing. He was no longer Zoltan, Zoltan was dead. In memory he
would remain alive but never again would Zoltan, Emperor of Zeal be seen on
this earth.

The edge of the floating continent was getting closer. There was no real
commotion as most of the people were asleep.

"Go on, run from your troubles." chuckled Guroos.

"Perhaps..." grumbled Tyrquah as he neared the edge. "But I am not running
from YOU!" he grasped Guroos by the neck as he dove over the edge. Falling
downward, he dug his foot claw into Guroos' gut, snarling at him in his
primal rage. Guroos responed with a swift bite on the nose as his purple
robing flew away. The pair tumbled to the earth, through the clouds,
clawing and biting at each other. Once on the other side lightning bolts
struck either of the two as they manipulated the storm against each other.

Finally, they struck something. A tree. The tree collapsed under the intense
force behind the two battling gods as they rushed up.

"Now, Guroos, I shalt do what I should have done three thousand years ago!"

"Aye, that you will. You shalt die!"

A spike of rock blasted up under Tyrquah, which he quickly dodged by flying
to the side. Tyrquah countered this by causing the air particles around
Guroos' face to transform into molten lava. Guroos roared in agony as the
lava rushed over his body.

Quickly solidfying in the cold rain, Guroos now resembled a statue. Tyrquah
breathed heavily.

Just then, the tree behind him began to fall forward. Tyrquah quickly rolled
out of the way, but when the tree struck the ground, it burst into flames.
The flames quickly took the form of a Lizar.

"I won't go down that easy, Tyrquah." slowly, the flames transformed into
the purple clad form of Guroos. "However, I must cut this fight short. I
believe I have a place on the other side of the Yggdrasil to visit."

Then he was gone.

"COWARD!" roared Tyrquah as he punched the statue, shattering it into dust.
The rain intensified as he slowly began to let his own tears loose. He had
just lost everything he had worked for in the past twenty years. Redemption
was now unattainable.

This world was cruel to one who was not mortal. Tyrquah sighed.

Perhaps the time to world walk was at hand.

Where the sobbing Tyrquah was, there now was nothing.

Had Tyrquah remained, he would have seen the sour fruit of this event. The
family hid their dark secret, instead saying Zoltan had died in his sleep
and was buried privately. Katherine had then pushed the Gurus to improve
their research on the beast known as 'Lavos'. Janus became sullen, refusing
to allow anyone in except for his sisters. Wilma literally went insane and
was ultimately imprisoned in a cavern, and Schala lost her sense of will,
using her powers for her mother's bidding. The Mammon Machine was
constructed, Zeal raised Lavos and Zeal fell from the Skies.

* * * * * * *

Thanatos examined the pendant as the rain poured down heavily. It was
Katherine's wedding present to him...

Schala, Janus and Wilma were immortal, as he was. All three of them were
dead. The only damn living thing that was still alive from then was Janus'
cat, Alfador.

This world was cruel to one that was not mortal.
