Subj: [ffml] [HD] Darkness, Despair, Death... Date: 01-03-03 21:24:36 EST From: darklord@compusmart.ab.ca (His Dark Lordship) Reply-to: ffml@yahoogroups.com To: ffml@yahoogroups.com (ffml), hilliondynasty@egroups.com (Hillion Dynasty) Kefka looked up at the moon. A full moon. Oft times a sign of great things, and oft times a sign of terrible things. It was the time that the so called werewolves emerged, albeit there never was any real proof to that particular folktale. Any educated man knew a werewolf could emerge at any given time. Aracalen had retired to his tent to study his maps, to figure out the quickest way back to Baron. With the pursuit of the other band on his mind, he seemed to be somewhat less cocky of late. A rumble in the bush behind him caused him to whirl about with a ball of pure energy ready; the legendary Ultima spell, long since forgotten by most, but Kefka made sure that whatever was behind him would remember the legendary power if it wished to by doing something so rash as assaulting him. "Tsk. Put the rabbit back in the hat, mage knight. It's pathetic that didn't sense me coming." chuckled the large figure that was there; A large, cloaked lizar that almost seemed to fade in with the darkness, only seen where the moonlight struck him. "Thanatos. It has been ages since I've had the displeasure of your company." grumbled Kefka. "It isn't my fault you fucked up. I gave you the infomation to grow powerful, but apparantly a human isn't capable of godhood." "Much like a big dumb reptile isn't capable of coming up with a decent insult, but you don't hear my complaining." Thanatos chuckled again. "Kefka, it is a sad thing that you are incapable of some sort of gratitude. Everything you acomplished would have been miniscule if it weren't for me. It was I who told you of Abterrus in the first place, and it was I who told you of the three corpses of the Nosgoth queens whom we put an end to during what you humans call the War of the Magi." "Yes, yes, I remember, though you never explained to me why a lord of destruction sided against a group of broads destroying everything." "I was a different person then..." * * * * * * * It was a war to be remembered. Three goddesses, probably the last of the Nosgoth, had been in a secluded pocket of reality since Godzilla had sealed them there epochs before. However, much to Halfdan's dismay, Kol, his longtime nemesis through ages past, had broken the seal upon them to weaken him. Now, as the three Nosgoths, who had long since taken a real dislike to each other, battled it out, using thier latest creation and probably first in thousands and thousands of years, Espers, to battle their war for them. The espers themselves were fairly few in number; for each Goddess probably a handful were in the fight, but they still were managing to level cities, wipe entire species' off the earth and generally be a royal pain in the ass for the ruling dieties; including Halfdan and Kol. Kol of course was a coward, and had decided that this crisis was a perfect time to go world walking. Fucking prick. Halfdan thus had to solve this stupid problem himself. * * * * * * * "And Halfdan single handedly beat up all three Nosgoth, right?" chuckled Kefka. The room sparked with the lavish sacrifices Kefka had used to summon THanatos to this point. While a noble warrior of the Empire, Kefka was always interested in the occult arts, and he had apparantly decided to go overboard with this one. "I'm afraid so." muttered Thanatos. "The espers of course put up resistances for their goddesses, and Halfdan had to deal with them as well. Mira had Bahamut, Sela had Leviathan, Tyra had Alexander. The three god-espers themselves were a handful for him." "So what happened to them?" "The Espergods were severely injured, whilst the Nosgoth themselves were litterally slain. Halfdan gave them the choice of either fading away completely like the other Nosgoth or transforming themselves to stone, surrendering their minds but not their powers. They chose the latter, and Halfdan, with the reluctant assistance of the Espergods, forged the realm of Abterrus, the resting place of the Nosgoth sisters and the home of the Espers that the Espergods spawned in later years." * * * * * * * The memory of the conversation flowed past Kefka. "Alright, so I admit, you did help me. Now, why are you here?" "Simply," said Thanatos. "Because you and your friend there are losing the race." "The race for what?" "The race to be the ones to demolish this earth." Thanatos placed an object on the rock before him and in an instant, he was gone. Kefka examined the object. It was like the Gem he had before, except, this Gem absorbed the moonlight, casting a shadow across Kefka's arm. "Amazing." * * * * * * * Thanatos strolled silently through the bush, attempting to sidestep Ladaku's force. They were so close to one another it was almost disgusting. Once he had found a clearing to meditate he sat down riverside. "You... helped him." came up a female voice behind him. Thanatos nodded. She had been following him all night. It was that same maiden he'd seen awhile back; the Red Mage. He had noticed she had been almost anxious to see him since thier first encounter. "Aye, but is it any of thy business, wench?" he rasped, trying to sound as old-world as possible. She slowly came forward. "Thou hast no fear of the Lord of Darkness?" "I do, but my fear is overwelmed by my fascination. You have been following us, why?" "I hath no reason to explain mine actions to thee." "Fine." grumbled Celeste as she litterally sat down beside him. "I know what you are up to." "Really?" chuckled Thanatos. "I should be entertained to hear what it is." Celeste looked at him oddly. "You... you are not as most have described you." "I am that which I chose to be." Celeste sighed. "A true Lord of Darkness and Evil would not be running through the bush giving away talismans." Thanatos sighed. "A true Lord of Darkness and Evil is a thing that which I am not of." Celeste chuckled. Thanatos glared at her. "What's so funny?" "You're such a fake. Trying to act formidable and evil, but you really aren't." she got up and began to walk off, only to turn to him again. "I know who you are. The mysidian library is still the most accurate in this earth." "A book is not a way to know me." "And what is?" Thanatos began to produce a grin, but then dropped it to a snarl. "Nevermind, child. Thou art too young to be unleashed to mine hell. Go back and make sure the Avariel dost not overexert herself." Celeste eyed him oddly, then noticed he seemed to be completely ignoring her. She strolled off. -- The eternal lord of darkness...
