Subj: [ffml] [HD] Face in a crowd Date: 01-02-03 03:48:30 EST From: aramarth@home.com (Drew Woolley) Reply-to: ffml@yahoogroups.com To: ffml@yahoogroups.com Rydia slumped down the stairs into the main common room of the Inn. Since Pyxie and Arcanis had returned earlier this evening, she knew, for the first time in days, that everyone was ok. Arcanis' return had been a surprise. It didnt take much of a summoner to feel the bond between him and Pyxie. Rydia hadnt thought that Pyxie was a summoner, and frankly it came as a rather large surprise, but it seemed right when she thought about it. Not a summoner of Mist though. Ever since Mist had been destroyed, she was the only one that she had even heard of. Rydia stepped out of the Inn into the cold night, it was raining outside. The cold drizzly rain that got underneath all your clothes in an instant. She shivered slightly, and headed towards one of the few bars in town that were disreputable enough to serve someone as young-looking as her. A low level fire spell was enough to change the proprieters first protest. She stepped inside, closing the door behind her quickly, and ducking into the shadows. She slunk over to a corner, close enough to the fire to feel its warmth, but out of sight enough that noone would think twice about her being there. When the barkeep came by, she made sure that she recognized him, and ordered a sweetish concoction that she had taken a liking to recently. She studied the people in the bar while she waited for her drink. A few bedraggled travelers sat throughout the room, generaly shunned by eachother and the city dwellers. The bar was quieter then youd expect. But then impending war, and the death and distruction that came with it, tended to do that. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a old man sitting in front of the fire, barely visiable around the corner, turning her head slightly to look better, out of habit, she sent him a quick glance, fully expecting him to look nothing like the old freak who had trapped her in this childlike body. Her jaw almost hit the floor. Her gasp was audable throughout the bar, the old man looked up and saw her face, and quickly got up and leaved the building. Rydia got up when she finally got control of the shock, and headed for the door. 'Dun'cha think you shoul be payin for somtin?' The barkeep slurred out, interposing his large and round body between Rydia and the door. She sighed slightly, and reached into a pocket, picking out from feel a 20 gil piece, and tossed it at the man, and was forced to wait untill he had checked its authenticity, before she was allowed to leave. By that time the bearded old man was just going around a far corner. Running after him as fast as she could, she almost slipped on the slick streets, she got around the corner just in time to see him turn around another corner, again and again, just a few steps ahead of her. Finally she got within an arms length of him, and reached out to grab his shoulder, to force him to stop and turn her back. Her hand went to close, and it felt like a thunderbolt ran through her body. Her back arched on its own, forcing her face up into the air. She felt the cool rain on her face in contrast to the agony through the rest of her body. She felt like the ground underneath her fell away. Her magical skills told her that she was being teleported. Not a regular within the plane teleport, but one much more powerfull. She barely had time to register the cave she wound up in before she lost conciousness. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okie, in an attempt to get back into writing, and maybe further my char just a touch more, Ive decided to divert slightly from the rest of Pyxies harem. She _will_ be back >:D I just dunno when ^_^ Sorry if its kinda unnannounced, but it kinda popped into my head suddenly ^^; Rydia Subj: [ffml] [HD] Escape attempt Date: 01-02-04 16:41:10 EST From: aramarth@home.com (Drew Woolley) Reply-to: ffml@yahoogroups.com To: ffml@yahoogroups.com Rydia woke up, groaning with the effort. Her head felt like all of King Giotts subjects had been doing thier moroning 'Lally-ho' dance in her skull. She braced her arms behind her head and tried to stand up. Some time later... Rydia woke up again, only vaugly remembering trying to get up the first time. Fortunatly she felt -slightly- better. Perhaps some of Giotts more hefty subjects had been winded and decided not to join in the dance. She sat up carefully, and took stock of her situation. Looking around the cave she realized that there wasnt a way out. The air didnt feel like it was going to go stale anytime soon, she she sighed a breath of relief there. The young looking summoner closed her eyes, took a deep breath and concentrated. Trying to summon enough magic force through the pain to ease her suffering somewhat. She went through the motions of the low level cure spell, but nothing happened. She tried again, to the same results. Rydia knew that white magic wasnt her forte, but she knew this low level spell well enough that she knew she had cast it correctly. Starting to panic, Rydia tried casting a low level ice spell. Once again nothing. Almost crying with the frustration, she stood very carfully, and hobbled her way around the walls over the cave. No opening anywhere. Not even a hint of a breeze. Remembering the feeling of the teleport spell as it acted around her, she knew that she had been teleported off the plane of Earth, onto some other level of reality, most likely not conforming to some, or all, of the rules that Earth did. With a small whimper, she realized that this small cave might be the entirety of this pocket universe.. The frustration and fear welled up in her, tears streamed down her child bodies cheeks, and she instinctivly called upon her guardian, Titan. If she had been able to pay attention she would have realized that her body did not change, that the adult form that always seemed to come with the casting of a high level spell or a summon didnt happen. Rydia had other concerns though. The mental contact with Titan was easily enough accomplished, but it found itself unable to answer Rydias call. Rydia felt the frustration and anger of the summoned monster run through her, hightening her pain even more. She felt Titan try again with all his strength, the equivelant of taking a running start at it. Unfortunatly, in more ways then one, running into the barrier between the Summoner and her guardian was like taking a running start headlong into a brick wall. Rydia slumped to the ground, once again unconcious, the shock of running into the wall that hard transmited through her connection with the summoned monster. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *L* kinda slow between posts, I know ^^; I just gotta get ridda this mental block on writing... Thanks for the post tho pyx, I was touched at your show of concern *pounceglomps* ^______________^ Rydia
