Subj: [ffml] [HD] Summoners Request. Date: 01-01-04 20:47:16 EST From: aramarth@home.com (Drew Woolley) Reply-to: ffml@egroups.com To: ffml@egroups.com Rydia woke up early in the morning, and could tell that the party in the main hall was still in full swing. Giggling slightly to herself about some of the harem members continuing experementation with the idea of avoiding hangover by staying slightly drunk all the time, she decided to avoid the hall for now.. Since the bar incident, she hadnt felt much of an urge to partake in the usual entertainment that the harem was so good at providing. She felt restless.. Not in the childish way that she had gotten used to, but more in the way that had promted her to spend so long wandering aimlessly, searching for some way to feel satisfied that vengance for the destruction of her village. She had felt that for a short while after helping Cecil defeat Zemus on the Lunar moon, but his final words kept ringing in her ears, forcing her to belive that he might still exist in some form. The incident with the old man at the bar had also pushed one more thought into her mind. Perhaps if that old man was as powerful as he announced himself to be then perhaps he could bring them back, or send her back to the moment of the destruction of the village so she could save them herself. She shook her head against the confusing thoughts, and decided to take a walk. Remembering the castle, she was determined not to go that far away from the Harem grounds. Perhaps down to the edge of the mountain forest.. It was still above most of the cloudline, and nowhere near the village, a perfect place to get away from everyone else to think. She dressed quickly. Choosing a slightly heavier outfit then usual to guard against the collected dew that always existed in the forest let alone first thing in the morning. She let herself out of the main building through a side door quietly, trying not to interupt the activities of the other harem members, and summoning what little white magic she could perform, cast a levitate spell on herself and dropped slowly to the ground below. The ground was littered with boulders, pointing to the recent growth of the mountain. The entire chain was relitivly young, and thus still quite craggy. There had been some instances where BahamutX had been asked to help find villagers who had gotten lost in the area. Unfortunatly the searches were rarely successfull. She kept the levitate spell somewhat at work, so she couldnt hurt herself too badly, and hopped lightly from boulder to boulder towards the forest below. The forest began suddenly, very few bushes past the outer line of trees, making the sudden plunge from the craigs of the mountain to the dark of the forest an amazing contrast. Turning around, she could see the outline of the Harem buildings in the distance, higher on the mountain. Realizing for a moment that noone knew where she was if something happened, which she couldnt help but feel would be something big, and soon, but pushed the thought from her head. She had to think about what had happened at the castle, and what it meant to her life. She walked into the first clearing that she knew of. The sun came through the whispy clouds, softening the impact of the morning sun, and giving the clearing almost a dream-like quality. She sat lightly on a fallen log, after drying it with a very low intensity fire spell. The past few days were a blur, the only reason she even belived most of it happened was the new stone which now adorned her necklace. Pulling out the stone in question, she noticed for the first time that it was glowing slightly. She had never noticed this before, and tried to think of any reason why it might act thus, and what it might be. She couldnt think of any explination with her experience of Black Magic, and her powers of White Magic was too new to be of any use. That left Summoning magic.. Summoning was never a precice thing. She had heard stories of Summoners on many of the worlds in her travels, and accounts of where thier magic stemmed from was always different. Her only definate source of knowledge was that from her tribe. As the last survivor of Mist, her magic came from her feelings. To gain the trust of a Summoned Monster, and thus gain the ability to call it in battle, one of her tribe had to fight it. When the monster had no choice but to acnowledge that thier feelings were strong enough to defeat it, the Ancient Bond was enacted. By giving a space of herself for the monster to draw strength from, the monster vowed to heed the call of the summoner. Nowhere did any part of the Vow mention a stone, or even a focii. Rydia felt the presence of the Mist Dragon within her. Along with Titan, those were the only two summoned monsters which she still had contact with. She sighed deeply. Thinking of the Mist Dragon always made her think of her mother. Rydia's mother had died when the Mist Dragon had been defeated by outsiders who were on orders to find the village of Mist and destroy it. The white stone pulsed faintly in her hand, and she felt her mothers presence around her, many memories coming to mind of her early childhood... Rydia jumped off of the log in one motion, and ran back up towards the Harem building, casting a levitation spell on the way. She reentered the building through the door closest to Mistress Pyxies quarters, trying not to cry but being sure of her decision. Dodging past other harem members in the hallway, she burst into Pyxies room and gave her a flying hug. Pyxie, who had been packing some clothes at the time, broke into a wide grin at the young summoners entrance untill she saw Rydia's face. 'Whats wrong Ryds?' She asked, squeezing the green haired child close. Rydia looked up at Pyxie and sighed deeply, screwing up her courage so she could say what she needed to. Squeezing her eyes tightly close so she wouldnt cry she opened her mouth to speak. 'I.. I have to leave this place.. I dont want to loose any of you,' here she squeezed Pyxie even closer, 'but I feel like I have to go back to searching.. That old mans out there somewhere.. and so is Zemus.. and.. I just have to!' With that Rydia burst into tears, clearly not wanting to leave Pyxie or her other friends behind, but feeling the intense need to go. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ^_~ Suffice it to say that I wanna tag along with you Pyx *L* Im just trying to give a viable reason for it ^_~ Ill leave it up to you to finish this part if its not too much trouble, Im really bad at writing for someone else ^^;; -Ryds Subj: [ffml] [HD] Girl Talk Date: 01-01-05 12:47:46 EST From: jaypyx@yahoo.com (pyxie ) Reply-to: ffml@egroups.com To: ffml@egroups.com Pyxie felt something deep in her heart lurch as Rydia clutched to her legs. Even before they met, something had caused Pyxie to go on a personal scout. She had traveled for days until she saw the lonely girl looking over the cliffs. At that moment, she knew that Rydia was someone that she will protect with her own life at any cost. "Hush now little one," she said soothingly. "I never thought of leaving you behind in the first place." Crouching to be face level with Rydia. Ruffling the mop of green hair on her head, Pyxie grinned into the watery eyes. "Remember, we're partners right? Where I go, you go." Rydia twitched her nose, a slow smile touching her lips. "And besides," continued Pyxie. "something about Arcanis tells me he might be able to help us find a clue about the man who destroyed your village. Would you mind traveling with him?" "Hmmm, weeeell.." Rydia hiccuped. "He's not as pretty as me, or have strong monsters as I do, but he seems ok. As long as he stops asking so many questions." Rydia scrunched her nose in distaste and giggles when Pyxie tweaked them. "Ok then, brat, hurry on and pack up and I shall do the same." With a nudge to the door, Rydia looked back one more to wave at her mistress. Her mood was definitely much better now that she knew her adopted family will be near. Pyxie was just about to closed the door behind Rydia when she noticed Empress walking quickly towards her. "Mistress!" the girl made a shy curtsey. "I have good news. Pokey has returned, along with Baha, Bix and another woman." *So he finished his task after all* With a squeal of delight, Pyxie grabbed her skirts and ran down the hall. When she reached the top of the stairs, she swung her legs over the polished banister and sailed down, landing on her feet nimbly. Subj: [ffml] [HD] Oooo my skin is tingling Date: 01-01-05 15:49:24 EST From: larathia@mcs.net (Larathia) Reply-to: ffml@egroups.com To: ffml@egroups.com, hilliondynasty@egroups.com Even from some small distance, the place of the School set Lia's skin and senses a-tingle. "Truly there must be a powerful mage living here," she thought, disturbed. This Pyxie must be a great enchantress, to have human slaves and dragons - dragons! - at her beck and call. Lia knew herself to be at best a mediocre mage, skilled with ice magic but almost helpless where ice failed to serve. Yet here she was, entering the abode of what could only be a powerful sorceress... Yet her intuition said there was nothing to fear. And the holy symbol of the Lady sat quiescent between her breasts (which still ached from the manhandling that obnoxious human had given it). Yes, she thought on entering. It *must* be a powerful sorceress that built this place. I can enter it without worrying about the roof falling in on my head. And the tingling is much stronger now - so strong it's hard to not rub my arms... Lia watched with raised eyebrows as a silver haired lady came speeding through the doorway and flung herself at Pokey. After smothering him in kisses, she welcomed the other back with enthusiastic hugs. Finally she turned to Lia. I can't let her hug me, Lia thought, almost panicky. I can't let such a mage hold my wings...can't let her see her magic's effect on me... Pyxie came to a slow halt as Lia stiffly stepped back form her approaching hug. Still keeping the smile on her face, Pyxie offered her hand instead. This, Lia gratefully took, and managed a smile, as she pressed palm to palm in what she had been taught was the formal greeting of mages. In the skin-to-skin touch, a mage could gauge some measure of another's skill and specialty. Rather to Lia's surprise, Pyxie's touch was rather arousing. She had no doubt her own touch felt cold as ice. "How do you do? Welcome to Anything Goes School of Masquerade Arts." Lia looked into the twinkling green eyes, eyes that were a shade lighter than her own, and thought "What have I gotten myself into? Great loving Lady, I've walked into the den of a seducer!" The tingling was making her skin crawl. Trying to step back without giving offense, and increasingly disoriented from all the magic all around, Lia felt irrisistably drawn to turn around. Somewhat apart from the others was a nondescript man watching the proceedings with a keen yet wholly innocent stare, and a curious smile - as though he was pleased that everyone seemed happy, but wasn't sure why they were. The power radiating from this one being was more than the rest of the room combined, yet it wasn't....codified? as the rest of the magic was. Like herself, magic was built into his being...just a hell of a lot more of it. She wondered that others in the room could not feel it. Had she been older, she might have recognized the meaning of this sooner. Had she been more trained, she might have managed to counteract the effect of the ambient magic, or the magic of the Seducer's touch. But she wasn't. In a few moments, perhaps, she would be able to get control of herself - but not here, and not just now. Pyxie watched, smile fading to a look of puzzlement, as Lia dropped her hand and turned to face Arcanis. Watched as Lia, almost sleepwalking, locked eyes with the strange innocent and drew a slender wooden wand from her belt pouch. Holding it in her hands like an offering to a god, Lia went down before Arcanis on both knees and knelt like a seraphim guarding the Ark of the Covenant, placing the wand at his feet. "Master, a student stands at your door seeking guidance," she said, hardly knowing that she said it or why. It seemed to be some formula, built into her psyche. "I offer my greatest magic in exchange for your knowlege." Arcanis looked deeply surprised and not a little mortified. Pyxie's eyes went right to the wand, trying to memorize everything that made it different from an average twig. And everyone else just stared openmouthed at the spectacle. And a tiny voice, muffled in the magic flowing through Lia's brain, was shouting "You bloody great idiot! Wake UP!"
