Well, since a certain female paladin has no objections, here's the next
part of this oh-so-gripping saga (and about time, too ^_^)

And yes, I didn't die or anything, I'm still on the list. ;D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I surrender! I surrender! Don't shoot, I'm coming out with my hands up!"

Xoth slowly stood up, his eyes fixed on the archer. Just in case, he
prepared a Hold spell.

The figure slowly into the light, then lowered her bow. "Sorry, I thought
you were one of them."

She then put the arrow back in the quiver and dropped down out of the
tree, landing lightly. "I saw your entrance, and I wasn't about to take
any chances."

Xoth nodded, then looked at the young woman. "Hmm, you wouldn't happen to
be part of Bacca's forces, would you?"

"Why do you ask?"

"I've been walking for days trying to find those people. Where are they?"

She shrugged. "I've been looking for them myself."

The wizard sighed. "I should have known I could never be that lucky." He
then smiled sardonically. "Well, since we seem to be headed in the same
direction, perhaps we should stick together."

The woman looked at him suspiciously. "I don't have any idea who you are,
so forgive me if I don't trust you."

Xoth's smile never faltered. "Most of my friends don't either."

Suddenly, he whirled around, a voice echoing in his mind: *-has captured
the city of Mysidia and hopes to extend his reach elsewhere! He must be
stopped! He--*

"What is it?" The woman's voice brought him back to reality. He glanced at
her and decided he could trust her. "Something has happened in Mysidia. We
have to find Bacca."

"What? Mysidia? How are we going to find them?"

Xoth smiled again. "Well, if we keep walking in one direction, sooner or
later we're bound to cross paths with them." With that he picked himself
up and looked in one direction. Shaking his head, he looked in another
direction. Then, with a confident nod, he began heading that way,
resolutely ignoring the soreness of his body.

The archer muttered a curse and followed him. "I hope you know what you're
doing, uh..."

"Well, if you don't trust me, why should I trust you," he replied to her
prompting.

She rolled her eyes, then thought, *Well, if I'm crazy enough to follow
him, then I must be crazy enough to tell him who I am.* "The name's
Bhethria, wizard. So do you want me to keep calling you that, or do you
have a name?"

He waited about 50 paces, appearing to mull over that question. Finally,
he turned to her and said, "I'm Xoth. But you may call me whatever you
wish."
